THE SOUTH EAST ESSEX RAILWAY SOCIETY,
MORE GENERALLY KNOWN AS 'SEERS'

SEERS - a long established railway society promoting
the railway hobby for enthusiasts living in and around South East of Essex
with some members in Scotland and Germany.

SEERS in 2024 - Club activities have included:-

  • 10 Track-nights;.

    New this year - and proving popular - a TT circuit suitable for
    both vintage Tri-Ang, new Hornby and continental stock.
    We now have 9 circuits catering for; 1, 0, H0/00, TT and N..

  • Outings;

    Barnards Farm Miniature Railway,
    Colne Valley Railway,
    Mangapps Farm Railway Museum,
    Braxted Bakery Railway,
    Regent's Canal, a guided walk from Paddington to King's Cross,
    Visit to a member's garden line.

  • Formal Presentaions;

    The Palace Theatre Westcliff,
    The Early Days of the Docklands Light Railway,
    The Unknown Photographer - Local railways,
    Recent developments at the Mangapps Railway & Museum,
    How Railways Began - 200 Years Ago (and before),
    Night of the Dusty Bins - a light-hearted look at the life and times of the BR Class 321 EMUs.

Our regular meetings are held in Leigh on Sea to provide ...

  • Regular talks and presentations, mostly on railway subjects,
  • Model railway 'test track' facilities,
  • A library of over 2000 railway titles
  • Visits to railway facilities plus social gatherings.





With around 90 members our normal meetings
attract an audience of about 30.
